Danny R. Zimmerman, Ph.D.

Danny is an Aviation Management Specialist and the Northeastern Area Aviation Officer with the U.S. Forest Service. He covers 20 states in the Northeast and is dedicated to the health, management, and administration of public and private lands. During his career he has served in the National Forest System and also the agency’s branch of State and Private Forestry for over thirty-years. His undergraduate degrees include an Associate of Science Degree in Computer Programming and Technology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Gannon University. He has a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical and Aerospace Aviation Science with dual specializations in Aviation Safety and Aviation Operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Northcentral University is in Business Administration with a focus in Organizational Leadership. He is a member of both Kappa Gamma Pi Honor Society and Golden Key International Honor Society. He is Chair of the Northeastern Area Interagency UAS Working Group, member of the National UAS Advisory Group for the Forest Service, Co-Chair of the Northeastern Area States Aviation Committee, and member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot’s Association.
