Calvin Powell

Lieutenant Colonel Calvin Powell, United States Air Force, is a career aviator currently serving as the Chief, Central Europe Branch, for United States European Command. He is responsible for advising the Commander on political-military and security cooperation actions to support national strategic military objectives. Previously he was a Senior Fellow at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies. Colonel Powell holds master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Air University and received his commission and a bachelor’s degree from the United States Air Force Academy. Following pilot training, he served two flying assignments in the F-15C. In 2009, he transitioned to the MQ-9 and MQ-1B unmanned aerial systems. Colonel Powell was the Commander, 16th Training Squadron, at the MQ-9 and MQ-1B Formal Training Unit, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. He is a Command Pilot with more than 2,500 hours in the MQ-1B, MQ-9, F-15C, T-38, and T-37.
